I bought the Nikon scope at a big-box store thinking it HAD to be better than the Simmons that came attached to the rifle. I planned to do some coyote hunting and ordered a sunshade from competitor. Fortunately, the item was on backorder, because I noticed later in the description of the item I ordered that it was for the Monarch series. I called OP and had them change it to the item that "would fit" my ProStaff. I just got the sunshade this morning. I was excited to go screw in into the objective bell at the front of the scope and was instantly concerned...

You see, it doesn't just screw into the objective bell. Looking twice, I noticed that there seems to be a quarter-inch ring already there.
QUESTION: Do I need to remove that first ring to get my sunshade to fit? If so, any recommendations for removing without damage?
