I need some advice. I have this rifle on the way and need to pick out an appropriate scope. It will primarily be used for hunting but I may try my luck with some long range target shooting as well. I consider myself a prudent hunter and tend to pass on "hail mary" shots. Looking for the best scope to accomplish both. I've been looking at some of the high magnification nightforce scopes and competing products. Many of there websites have ballistic calculators that do an impressive job of matching reticles to yardages out to 800 yards but at high magnifications. If you dial them down to the 4-5 x range (where most hunting shots would be used) the gradations completely fall apart an can be off by 100-200 yards. I'll be the first to admit I'm not an optics expert but this seems a little unpracticle for a guy who is not going to be dailing a scope in on the fly while an animal is passing by. All advise/explainations welcome for the newby.
