That depends on if the top end scopes are FFP. If they are, the reticles I have used easily surpass any requirements for low light use. Just crank up the power a bit and the reticles become "heavier". If a Euro Zeiss, Swaro, Kahles or S&B is in the budget, I can justify the cost.

It also depends on where you are hunting at. Most of the areas I hunt have a lot of cover. If I see an animal in low light that is out a ways, there may be plenty of obstructions in the way that can deflect the shot and possibly injure an animal. This is where the excellent contrast and resolution of the aplha class scopes really shine. If you are in more open country this might not be a requirement.
