Here's what you need to understand IMO. Meopta makes all of it's products in house, including the glass, grinding, polishing, etc....everything. The only other optics manufacturer I'm aware of that does that is S&B. All of these other guys import parts, assemble parts, or have some Asian manufacturer complete them to their specs. Naturally the guy that does the latter can do it at whatever price point they desire by shopping around for the best deal some Jap or Chinese company gives them. I would take the build quality, glass, and overall package of Meopta any day of the week over companies that outsource their products, especially Minox, Vortex, Nikon, etc.

![]() Although I'm excited about the Minox, as a Meopta fan, I'm disappointed to see that Meopta, seems unprepared to maintain their foothold in the $4-650.00 niche. As others move to 4 and 5x magnification, more compact designs and side focus, Meopta is holding fast, while raising prices. |
