I have had several different brands of scopes with this issue as well. But not all of them do it. I think it is hit and miss. My new Trijicon 1-4x is like this, it is hard to turn when warm, but near impossible to turn when cold. My old Trijicon did not have this issue.
Leupolds are known to do this with some of them, but not all of them. I have three variable Leupolds and none of mine do this, but I have read posts where people have had these issues with Leupolds. I bet the number that do are much lower than those that don't.
I would suggest calling Leupold and using their customer service, they do have a good customer service dept and I dare bet they will make you happy.
