Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view. ![]() I appreciate that and I will consider it but I just never hear them mentioned in the top glass discussions. What's another brand the VX-6 is on par with? Currently, my two nicest scopes are the VX-3, Accupoint, and an ACOG. If I am going to pay ~$2k, I just thought I wanted the nicest glass I can get. The two biggest ways I think I'll feel good about spending that kind of money are to see much better in low light than I can with the first two scopes above and to be able to see clearer farther than with these other scopes. Oh, and sorry about completely ignoring the point above about my adjustment required sending me back into the tactical scope market...I did get that just failed to type it. I'm not sure I can get alpha glass in a tactical scope with my mag and illumination requirements... I guess I am more willing to give up on travel than glass quality... |
If your requirements for adjustment can be compromised, then that is an option and then many hunting scopes go back into consideration.
Still, with all of the discussion that happened here, the scope you should be looking for is the Premier LT 3-15x50 on the used market if someone still has a new one or its successor the Tangent Theta TT315M. The TT315M has the same optical systems, but the mechanics are re-worked.
March 3-24x52 or 3-24x42 is another option, but since your eyes seem to like high contrast images, you will like the Premier/Tangent Theta more.
Hensoldt 3-12x56 or 4-16x56 is an excellent option, but you need to find a hell of a deal.
Kahles K312 is a nice scope and this year they will have an illuminated version of this scope, I think. That would work well for you and in terms of optics, this is easily one of the best optimized scopes I have seen.
Steiner Tactical 3-15x50 is another scope that is definitely worth a look. I tested a couple of different Steiner Tacticals and optically they are right in line with their competition.
