Your best low light optics are going to be the high end scopes, Zeiss, Schmidt&Bender, Swarovski, IOR and a few others. This is because of their lens coating and top of the market glass. Since your primary interest is night hunting you won't need the higher power scopes and this will help keep the cost down. I like Leupold but I don't think you'll find one with the light transfer and clarity that those listed will offer. I have a Leupold that I like a lot but if I had not had my 300Wm with the Zeiss DL Victory the trophy deer I took this yr would still be on the hoof. Last minute of legal day light and the Zeiss gave me what the Leupold couldn't. Koshkin and some others can give you the specifics on the inner workings of most scopes and why super large objectives don't necessarily make a scope transfer light.  Good luck in your search, Let us know what you get.

Welcome to the OT.
