Subject: Glass for my new Sig 716

Greetings.
I'm playing the 10-day waiting game out here in Kali waiting to pick up a new Sig 716. I have a few questions on putting glass on it. My primary application in mind is 100-500 engagement for target shooting; I'll take speed over accuracy for the 716: I have a 338 lapua for playing past 500 yards. It took me a few months of saving to get the 716 and will probably be July before I can buy some glass.

That said. I'm leaning towards the SWFA SS HD 1-6x24 for the 716. Anybody else have luck with this weapon/glass combination? Should I look at something a bit smaller and compact?
Also, my lapua needs to go in for work on the bolt and the optic is currently not zeroed: I am considering pulling the glass (Horus Falcon w H37 reticle) and rings and using it on the 716 till I get a more appropriate scope for the Sig. At first glance it looks like the Horus scope is not very well suited to my needs, way more zoom and drop than I would need on a semi auto 7.62 (and it is BIG)...BUT...I have it now and can get that rifle in the field right away while the lapua is in the shop. IF I decided to try this, would the rings on the Lapua work or will I need different rings for the 716?
Should I just leave the Horus alone and work with iron sites till I get the cash together for the optics for the Sig-716?
Thanks, have a great day.
