Subject: Leupold Turrets

Hey Everyone...
I ran into something today with my very old Leupold VX-II (3x9). Shortly after I bought it locally, I sent it into Leupold to have the reticle changed to a Mil-Dot, along with installing tall turrets in MOA.
Now I've had this scope for years, and had it wrapped in plastic, sitting in a drawer for almost all that time. The scope I usually keep on my Weatherby .243 had some problems, and I had to send it in for warranty repair, so I thought I'd put the Leupold on the rifle to do some loads testing.
After finding center on the Windage Turret, I installed it, and bore sighted it with a laser type chamber bore sighter. After that was done I was going to turn the Windage turret back to zero by loosening the set screws. What it appears to have instead of set screws is pop-rivets.
I thought it was pretty screwed up that Leupold would pop-rivet the turret to the turret drum to secure them, and was wondering if anyone else has ever seen this, and if so, do you know of any way to reset the turrets to zero after sighting in...??
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
DD
