![]() As long as there is a 3-9x $400 Meopta/Euro there's no need for a Terra riflescope to even exist. |
Well, yes and no. Yes, the Meopta is awesome, no Meopta does not sell 32mm models.
In fact, had Meopta made and sold a small/light 2-6x32mm with a nice no. 1 or no 4 reticle, i would have bought it. I don't like their no 4, the thin lines are too thin and the thick lines are too thick for me. If Meopta had in their $400 scopes the no 4 reticle used by Nikon in their 1-4x20 African, i would have bought 5 of them by now.
Granted, the 32mm Terra are not much smaller and lighter. Just a bit. I would have prefered another Conquest 32mm, but they are not available. Since i already hunt with the #20 reticle on 3 other scopes, i prefered the Terra to other models.
On the other hand, if the eyepiece on the Terra 2-7x32 were configured to be a 1.5-5x 32, the scope would have been perfect and i would have had nothing bad to say about it. It is an excellent scope with excellent and forgiving eye box. Just not useable past 5x. In effect, i look at it as an excellent 2-5x32 scope.
Also, let's not generalize. I am sure Koshkin will find something good to say about the 3-9x40 Terra model, which may be better. But, the annoying variable eye relief is still there. Come to think of it, some scopes that cost $400-$800 have this and are still deemed excellent.
