If you want a specific answer call Leupold back and ask them more precise questions. Is the tube the same thickness? Is the glass the same? Are the lens coatings the same? Is the erector system the same? Having owned them - I dont think they are the same, I think the VX3 has better glass and coatings are different and I suspect the erector system or the tube thickness may be different, but I dont know for sure, so Ask Leupold.
