The MeoStar R1 and R2 lines are in fact designed for the European hunting market, that is a fair assessment.
The MeoPro 1" line of scopes was specifically deisgned for the US market.
Both are sold in very attractive quantities in the USA and outside of the USA.
I can also tell you that the MeoStar R1 3-12x56 has outsold every other 50mm, 44mm or 40mm comparable MeoStar product in the US 5:1.
That scope (now the R1r SFP configuration) was and is the #1 selling scope for Meopta globally in Europe and the USA.
Your points about the need vs. benefit of objective sizes larger than 42mm are well taken, but options are out there for the consumer to decide on, and enough of them have said that the 3-12x56 was their choice.
