I own two Hawke Sidewinder Tac 30's. The one on my .300 win mag and its about 3-4 years old now. My other I just bought last summer and I mounted that baby on my AR-15.

I own two Hawke Sidewinder Tac 30's. The one on my .300 win mag and its about 3-4 years old now. My other I just bought last summer and I mounted that baby on my AR-15.
I took my AR out last week and I had shot about 30 rounds. I put 15 more round in a clip and dumped it! It looked like my scope was a little fuzzy and sure enough, about an inch long tube was loose moving around in the scope! "Son of a b%@#", I yelled!
I wasn't expecting that one to break anytime soon because of the low recoil and it was only a year old. Now the one on my .300 win mag..that's a different story. I've beat the sh!t out of that one and its been awesome..so far. I mean I've dropped it, landed on it, rolled it, you name it.
So I make a call to Hawke and the guy sounded totally shocked about what I was telling him. Hopefully they aren't trained to act like they are in shock..anyway..he apologized to me three or four times and told me where to ship it to to get it fixed. I was impressed by the way he handled everything.
Now do I do still stand by Hawke? I think so. I mean these scope are super solid. Its a hefty scope and my .300 (and myself) have PUNISHED my other one. Hopefully this was just a fluke.
