Subject: What general-purpose scopes are 'tough?'

I called Leupold and asked why there is a difference between the amount of internal adjustment of the MK4 line compared to the VX3 line and they told me that due to Military Requirements the tube is much thicker on the MK4 line of scopes than it is on the VX3. So yes the glass and erector system is the same, the knobs are different, but the heavier tube of the MK4 adds strength and makes the optic tougher and more impact resistant because it is a heavier tube. I also notice a sgnificant difference in the feel of the adjustments with the clicks on the Mk4 being much more crisp and positive.
