Rifle Scopes : what power fixed SS?

I wasthinking that the 20x would have too small a field of view and that the 10xmight not be enough for my 50 yrs. + eyes so I was between the 12x and the 16x.

Any reasonto not to go with the 16x?

I've alsobeen researching mirage and it seems like it’s something I’m going to have tolearn to read regardless of magnification.
