Subject: Bushnell Elite long eye relief or firefly reticle

I'm looking to buy a Bushnell Elite to go on a Savage .308 in either the 3-9x40 or 3-10x40 based on the prices I can get them for. Here are the options that I am up in the air about. I'd like to get the best possible reticle, but am quite limited in my choices. So, I've heard some guys on here saying they like the firefly for good low light conditions. First, I'd like to know if that means the firefly reticle appears bolder or thicker than the multi-x. Second question on this is that one guy on here said that he had the firefly in a low power bushnell that was nice and bold, but when he went to the 2.5-10 model it was thinner. So could there be a difference in the perceived thickness between these two models I'm looking at?

The second variable is that the 3-9x40 has an eye relief of 3.3" while the 3-10x40 has 3.6" of eye relief. Obviously if all other factors were the same I'd be happy to take the extra high-end magnification as well as eye relief. I'm curious how I would go about discovering which of these would be a better benefit to me, the eye relief of the reticle choice. Thanks for the help in helping me to narrow things down.
