I don't buy Leupold, so cannot comment on that scope; however, I have owned the Trijicon Accupoints in 3-9 and 2.5-10.  If low light performance is the most important thing, and illumination is a must, the Trijicon is the obvious winner for several reasons, not least of which is no batteries for the illumination.

That said, for a hunting rifle that might be taking 50 yard shots on bear, I'd be looking more for a 1-6 than a 3-9 or so.  I've hunted things that hunt you, and prefer to see as much of my surroundings as possible, these critters tend to move out of scope fields of view.

Of the 2 listed, 2.5-10 Accupoint.  It isn't small but it is hella great at low light hunting.
