My only gripe with TPS is they don't produce enough of the TSR's. Loco
Vendors are constantly out of them.

We used to have a member here that worked for them. TPS_Phil. I used to dog him about that.

Hopefully it will be a wash for me.  The rifle currently has a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 that weighs in at 18oz, which is the same as the Meopta I picked up.

My Weatherby Mark V isn't particularly light anyway even with the B&C Medalist stock and 26" barrel.

Keep waiting for another Z3 to show up on the SampleList that will help me drop about a 1/2 pound on the rifle.

That's all good to hear. My concerns? Well different isn't always bad, I always question things that "go against the grain" of what most folks consider the norm.  And I do realize "you get what you pay for" doesn't always apply, but I have found it prudent to get as much info as possible before trusting something completely.
There have been a lot of newcomers to the ring makers "ring". And a lot of new designs to boot.  I have always used either Badger or Seekins and never had any issues but the thought of marring or at worst deforming a $3500 scopes tube would be enough to make me cry.

Always good to check, Gappa. We certainly weren't criticizing you.

I guess my question wasn't really clear.

Sorry.

What about the TPS design makes you concerned it would damage your scope?  Just that it is different than other rings, or too inexpensive?

For the record, I have 5 sets of TPS rings now and none of them have damaged any of my scopes in any way.

Besides Mag range.

The VORTEX 6.5-20 Viper Vs. the  6-24 HS Viper.

Is the glass different?

If so better or worse and why.

Looking at adding 2 to replace some other higher end glass.

Meopta Meostar scopes are similar in both areas, IMO.

Just picked up a Meopta Meostar R1 for my 257 Weatherby.  Looking forward to see how it compares with my Z3.

Out of curiosity, which R1 and reticle did you go with?

I went with their older R1 model 4-12x with the plex reticle.

I debated about going with the McWhorter HV reticle, which is like a BDC reticle but I typically keep my shots inside of 350 yards.

It is the 3x erector vs the newer 4x in the R1 line, but I'm okay with that.  With the optical quality in their glass, having to dial up the magnification isn't necessary.

Thank you for your comments, and Kickboxer I will consider the Hensoldt 6-24X56 for sure, the top series from Zeiss probably the best in overall optical quality.

For the money, I think it is a very good buy.  I don't own one but did get the opportunity to handle one locally.  I was pretty impressed and liked the glass better than my old Nikon Monarch.  Not as good as my Conquest, but difference isn't significant.

Nice thing is the sale also includes their 2.5-10X and 4-16X scopes with the plex reticle.

Update:  I talked to a guy from Bushnell about their Butler Creek products and he said that these "Blizzard" lens covers seem to have a typo. Where it says a particular size will fit on a certain diameter, they messed up big time as none of the sizes listed are accurate to the real thing. The lens cover that will fit is the size 01 eye, or the size 03 obj. Hopefully this will serve as information to anyone else who might have this problem.

I purchased a couple of weaver K3 scopes (with the post and crosshair reticle of course) to put on my Mosin Nagant. Trouble is, I don't think it will hold up to the big recoil. The first one I bought is a k3w Wide view scope. It feels very sturdy and solid and has a good weight to it, so I assume it will hold up a while. The second is a k3 60 but it is significantly lighter which worries me. I want to make sure the k3 60 will be alright to take a beating

Probably a final post here on this topic to summarize what I have tried and what works best. I don't think any reticle can totally compensate for the issue. I tried a very high shoot through mount and found that I could shoot right handed but look through the scope with my left eye. But the best advice so far has been from a left handed shooter in my office who told me how to operate a right handed bolt with my left hand. It is a lot less awkward than shooting left handed and swapping to my right to run the bolt. I think of the options available and I have tried this is the best plan for me. I appreciated all the information you guys provided and am satisfied I have researched the most reasonable options and have a good plan to go forward with. Good shooting to you all!

I bought a K3 for my first deer rifle - a Marlin 30/30.  If it is still a comparable quality to the one I bought I do not believe it will suffer under the recoil. As I read the tables the recoil on a Mosin should be between a 308 and a 30/06 both of which were common when I bought my K3 and I never heard any recoil issues. However though it was a good reliable scope for me, it was really dark and I often wished I had purchased a 4x scope with much better relative brightness.

Been lurkingfor a while and have finally have decided on a fixed power Super Sniper scope.

Scope willbe mounted on a Remington 700 SPS with a 26” barrel in 308 Win using LeupoldSTD mount and rings.

My problemis deciding on what power to go with, I have access to a 200 yrd range but wantto be able to shoot farther, most of my shooting is done in the afternoon andhave noticed mirage as the range heats up so I guess my question is at whatpower does mirage become an issue.

Thanks foryour time.

The Zeiss Victory HT line is suppose to have the highest light transmission according to Zeiss' own tests.
The HT 3-12X56 can be had for 1.5k. Demo.
