Fellow SC hunter here !!

I have several Schmidt and Benders. I also have a Zeiss Victory and some Swarovski PV's / PH's. I have had Leica and many Zeiss Conquests , Kahles, etc.

Klassik's are both produced in Germany and Hungary. The parts are the same but they are assembled in different countries. The Hungarian scopes are much cheaper due to the labor costs being so much lower in Hungary. I have 4-5 German Klassiks and a Hungarian and I see no difference in performance.

All Scmidt and Bender products use the same glass as far as I know. The Polar may have different coatings are something becasue they are touted as having better light transmission. Schmidt and Bender does not make a low end scope, so they are all top notch.

I prefer Schmidt and Benders scopes. The fit and finish is the best to me. The adjustments are very positive and they hold their zero great. The low light performance is awesome. But after doing a lot of side by side comparisions, the other alpha glass is really about the same with subtle differences. Lots of people see best in low light with Zeiss, I happen not to. I see better with the Swarovski and SB glass, but it is not a huge difference.

All Schmidt and Benders are pretty much FFP reticles which are great for our type of hunting here. But the illuminated models are the best IMHO! All Schmidt and Benders I have used have some sidelight issues. And I have probably used a dozen. It has never cost me a shot but is kind of irretating some times, as it looks hazy right at first light or last light , when it is happening. The darker the shooting house or blind, the less it seems to happen. I don't notice it a lot anymore , but it does it if the light is hitting just right at dusk and dawn.

Two posts from two users, both recently joined and both are on the same IP address.

The original post is on a different IP.

I do not know anything about the brand.  If they are at SHOT, I'll swing by and visit.

In the meantime, if you can offer any background on how Arken is different from a myriad of other brands importing scopes from the same few Chinese OEMs, I would appreciate it.

It is always nice to see more competition, but I am curious if this is just a branding exercise or if there is more to it.

I've long thought that their cameras were pretty hot but there rifle scopes were at best so-so. There was 1 exception, I really liked their rimfire 3-9x40 EFR. Think that's a great little scope.

The Monarch UCC were good scopes that competed well with the Bushnell 4200 Elite several years back. I picked up a few and still have them.
Sorry to see them go

On 24x, any scope with a 42mm objective will be a little tricky to get behind.  The exit pupil is pretty small.  However, to be honest, when I had the 3-24x42 March I basically treated as a really excellent 3-15x scope most of the time, except if I wanted to really see something in detail and I had a comfortable shooting position, I could always dial it up a bit higher.

Now, I have the 3-24x52 model and, honestly, I do almost the same thing with it, except it resolves even better.  Their objective lens systems are really well designed.  They are effectively diffraction limited, so you can see a lot of detail.

It is my ideal hunting scope.  Lightweight with a mag range that works for close/moving shots or long range.  It sits on my 280 Rem and like the combination.

My 3-24x52 is also on a 280Rem.  Great minds...

Their Monarch Gold 30 mm scopes have performed very well. All mine were made in Japan as are two Monarch UCC that I also have.

everything I ever had with their name on it broke. Had one last two whole shots from a 7mm08. IMO, they’ve always made junk.

I’ve used Nikon Camera equipment since the 80s. The 35mm lenses they built at that time are still among the toughest and most reliable you can find. The camera bodies were as any too. Digital is a different game. Technological advances are more important. They dragged they’re feet, especially when it came to mirrorless. Sony owned that market before Nikon released anything. I have thousands of dollars worth of Nikon glass which is the only reason I’m still using Nikon bodies. That they are discontinuing rifle scopes, is not a shock.

I can't say I'm surprised either. Too many better options IMO.

I just hope this doesn't bode ill for the rest of their products. I just bought a D750 DSLR.

I do not photograph well.  The camera seems to add a couple of hundred pounds.  250 if it is a Nikon.

That is from a Frontsight class last weekend.  I had my AR with a nice March 1-8x24 Shorty all set up, but they said my trigger is too light and I took the whole class with a commie gun wearing a HiLux 1-4x24 CMR-AK on it.  Worked pretty well, but now I will have to go back and take the class with the gun I originally intended for it (with a heavier trigger).

Frontsight classes are awesome, according to a couple of instructors I've had who took the class.  Taking it again with the firearm of choice will just be icing.

front sight is dang picky with triggers. Alg act triggers are a good one that always passes their inspection.
